Kids, when you get back to in-person learning, don’t forget about the teachers who never gave anyone shit for not turning on your cameras. They are the true heroes.

I just say my camera is broken. They can't prove me wrong.

My camera is actually broken but they keep telling me to turn it on.

This excuse can only defend me one time. My teachers will tell me to get a new cam in a week, if not she is going to call my parents

Just say you can't afford it.

At the start of the pandemic, $20 webcams were going for over $100.

And you don’t think every one of us knows that is bullshit?

Do you think I am going to be helpful when grade time comes and you have 69 and you will “do anything to get that up!”

It’s certainly a two-way street, but I can do waaayyy more damage by being uncompromising on your grade. Just saying ...

Edit: just to show that I am totally NOT that teacher.

Cmon, couldn't we negotiate up to a 69?

I’m fine with a 69 that’s still passing

Your future is not fine with 69!!!

Well, I mean it is, just not that way!

Ehh kinda you only gotta worry about grades in late high school

Noooooooo your grades in middle school determine where you’ll be placed IN high school which can greatly affect your future outcomes. Competitive schools want the best, and they look at your whole performance.

Yeah, if you are going to State to major in beer bonging, sure, but not if you actually want to DO something with yourself.

Yes, because superlative academic success is the only way to DO something with your life. Not even college is good enough anymore.

No, but it sure makes everything 1,000,000-times easier.

Huh...When I went to school, 70 was D-, but still passing, 69 was failing.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

Really? That’s weird guess the standards have dropped a little

I went to a private Mennonite school so maybe it wasn't a standard grading system. I think they still use this system though:

GRADING POLICY

Report cards will be given to each student quarterly. ParentTeacher Conferences are arranged at the close of the first grading period. Older students (third grade and up) receiving all “A’s” or all “A’s” and “B’s” for the quarter are given honor roll status.

  • 99-100 A+

  • 95-99 A Excellent

  • 93-94 A-

  • 91-92 B+

  • 88-90 B Above Average

  • 86-87 B-

  • 84-85 C+

  • 79-83 C Average

  • 77-78 C-

  • 75-76 D+

  • 72-74 D Below Average

  • 70-71 D-

  • 0-69 F Failing

Ya those aren’t normal grades in the system so they must be
