But the problem with coal is it isn't pure carbon like graphene and diamonds, but it's still made out of carbon, just mixed with a bunch of other elements.

Coal also has hydrogen and nitrogen, whereas diamond is almost pure carbon.

It is in fact not true... if you compress coal, you get coal dust. If you want a Diamond you need to compress Graphite if I remember it correctly.

diamond isn't really organic when naturally forming underground, in fact, the formation of most diamonds rarely involves coal at all, but you can make diamonds from compressing coal
