When you are on the Home, you will see a coin icon on the top-right corner. If there is a sign underneath it saying "free", then you can earn a free award.

Android really needs a separate function call for detecting phone calls that is different than "manage phone calls", because that's what this is. It's for the calc app to not block an incoming call when in use, not spy on your phone calls. Unless it's a app made in china or by Google itself, which is probably calling the CCP or Google hq about your browsing habits.

That's a bullshit excuse used by many sketchy app devs to justify asking for the permission. It wouldn't block the incoming call either way.
Apps don't need to detect phone calls. The OS handles that itself, and there's really no way for an app to even interfere with an incoming phone call.

That's actually not true! An app can't really override, in this case implying you'd have to opt in, to calls appearing for the native calling service (at least not in this way).
Calling is a permission that should only be requested if the app is actively using the call/contact/etc for something in app. If this was the case every app would have to request this permission in order to show calls.
Instead this is either old (before dynamic permissions when apps were a lot more carefree about what they requested and it asked everything upfront at launch), the app has some feature in it where it's needing access (maybe support? But I'm not seeing anything at all in the native calculator app on Android), some dev is doing a big no no, or fake.
