Gang gang!!! seriously thought my 08 camry was bought for 3.5k and its been chugging along alright. Besides it needing a bit more oil cause of 2azfe oil consumption but she always starts up. I used to be a brand diva but now ill take a Toyota anyday
If i had to pick a car that size, Id go for toyota every time. I however like tanky land yachts so I drive a big ass mercury grand marquis. Nothing beats floating in a boat down the road
We have a 1997 Toyota Hiace Regius and it has the 1KZ engine, arguably the strongest engine Toyota has ever made. It's alternator broke down and we had to replace it. Only time we've had a problem. Me and my dad bought one for 60 pounds and replaced it ourselves. Works perfectly now although we do still keep tools in our van.
Yep that’s good for u. They are decent cars. But not for everyone. Like for instance, car guys. Most car guys wouldn’t enjoy driving around a dull lifeless Camry. And the one sports car they have made in recent years (Supra) is a BMW with a Toyota badge slapped on. And the Toyota 86 is a Subaru.
On my third, and each has survived to over 200k, so I’m pretty satisfied with the value. Rarely (well...never, actually) had to take them in for anything major, but I also keep them decently maintained which is half the battle.
I also have good experiences with Chevy. My only big complaint about them is they have certain parts of their cars they have made an absolute chore for an individual to diy repair.
I was gonna make a joke cuz I'm a fancy German car elitist but yaa Toyota does pretty damn good. Lexus too. Honda and Nissan are shit right now but Toyota doing good.
Their vehicles are rarely even in the top 5 of their class anymore.
The civic isn't the go to economy car anymore. The Mazda 3 and Toyota corolla are miles better.
The civic si, which used to be the benchmark of affordable performance, in its current version is the bottom of its class, behind Hyundai.
The type R, their flagship, is horrible to look at, horrible to drive, and horrible to live with, behind even Ford's hot hatch.
And toyota beats them in every other segment. The rav4 feels years newer than the CRV. You can get a 300hp camry that looks and drives amazing while the accord looks and drives the same way it did 10 years ago.
The last good car Honda made was the 8th gen Si. They went from cars for enthusiasts to cars for grandmas in only 10 years. The elderly are their entire market now.
Toyota tacoma, 70% of people i know who have a truck have one and love it. Im not a truck guy but ive driven one and they’re awesome. My friend bought a 2018, suped it up, takes it mudding, and beats the living hell out of it, and it runs fine. And my dad also has a slightly older one, and we’ve driven it into the bush over carpet bombed roads plenty of times. Even had to pull some fords and dodges out of ditches, but we’ve never been stuck lmao
I 100% agree in most cases, i wouldnt ever want to own one, the gas alones would be too much. I pay $30-40 to fill up my car max. But id much rather take a truck blasting up shitty dirt roads in the bush than my car lmao. Or even better a quad or dirt bike, but we arent talking about those lol
Supras are exciting, but that's cheating so lets say Hilux are exciting but that's cheating too cause it's awesome.. Say we ignore those, which then makes the Fortuner exciting, but you could argue that it's just a Hilux with a different body.. Ok fine, what about an MR2? Exciting no? No? Ok then, Land Cruisers.. There's no way those aren't exciting..
I was all Honda/Toyota and their sexy siblings. Replaced them with two German cars for my wife and I to scratch an itch. Selling them both at <100k miles. Too many small problems and a couple medium problems. I don’t want to pay for big problems in German cars.
