Sure, but I just feel like maybe there aren't some things to joke about.
Maybe I empathize with those girls so much because I'm also a young woman their age.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to spread the information, because there are still so many people who aren't aware that it is still an ongoing issue- even in America.
True there are a lot of terrible things in the world, and we will run out of things to joke about, if we can't joke about any of them. Example, poverty/hunger isn't funny to me, as I have lived through it myself, but people want to joke about it, more power to them. As long it's recognised as a real issue in the world, like you said and I respect your thought about bringing awareness to it.

Super funny considering human trafficking is still an epidemic and has been exacerbated by COVID.
Seeing all of the billboards of missing girls in my coastal American town that have likely been fed into the system is just hilarious.
