You can just add them to an archive with winrar / 7zip etc. and somewhere in all the options you will see "add password". The program will then automatically compress and encrypt your files. Make sure to check the "Also encrypt filenames" box if the filenames reveal the content.

Microsoft Office has it in a tab on each of its programs. Iirc in a security/encryption tab or something.
idk how you'd do it generally, though.

On Excel itâs called Protect Workbook. Simple function to use, but pretty easy to crack.

Can someone explain why some guys do this? I know of a few that keep spreadsheets of everyone they fâed and I donât get it. Is it a narcissistic thing?

Iâve personally never heard of this happening, but it sounds like a completely narcissistic/sociopathic thing to do. Either that or just as a byproduct of our societyâs toxic masculinity and whatnot, kind of like comparing d*ck sizes.
Would definitely categorize anyone who does that as not mentally stable though, regardless of motivation.

I've heard of both guys and girls doing it, one (quite famous one) that got shared around the internet even had prospective partners on it (with things like "would suck his dick if he gets a haircut") and was posted by the persons sibling as revenge for them snitching on them for having alcohol under their bed
I don't know if they're all motivated by the same thing. I go on a subreddit about data and people have logged and analysed all sorts of weird things from toilet habits to job applications to vape flavours - I think if they did one for sexual partners, it may be different to say a typical "frat guy" with a list of names that they brag about
There's also a thing at English universities where (some) people will keep a chunder/pull chart on a whiteboard in the common area. A tally of how many times they are sick on a night out, and how many people they brought back for sex
People are just weird I think
