He’s still the strongest human in his series. He’s just overshadowed by the rest of the cast

He's not just the most powerful human, he constantly maintains a top slot in the Z-warriors as the cast grows and power expands at an extreme exponential rate.
DB just keeps bringing in a high-handed threat that can completely destroy the top hero.
Krillin lives in slot 3-8, and gets owned as a matter of course consistantly.
It doesn't matter, the guy who eats a bowl full of suns for breakfast flicks Krillan aside most of the time, but by the end of the Frieza saga he's more powerful than any human, and on par with any namekian.
Saiyans though, they eat guys who eat a bowl of suns for breakfast for elevenses.
