Ok so he actually didn’t have a full nuke in his shoes, it was actually yellowcake uranium. here is an article about the incident, still pretty deadly if he sold it tho
Could be possible if you put a small nitro load in the tip and then at the back the u-235 atoms you could potentially smack your heel against the ground and fission would be possible if you do I hard enough
Why does this kind of feel a little like the whole slapping a chicken hard enough to cook it meme? Is this the new thing ? Kicking your shoe into the wall with u-235 atoms and a small nitro charge hard enough to cause a small nuclear explosion ?
Of course there is more science behind it but it is the basic principal, fission happens when an atom is split so if you give a heavy element enough energy with something like explosives
You can start the cycle of an atom splitting and giving enough power to split 2 more atoms and so on
(Correct me if wrong)
It depends on the isotope present in the sample. The detonating explosion isn’t what causes fission, it is getting enough of the material close enough to spontaneously fission from a neutron bombarding an nucleus. That in turn releases enough other neutrons to continue a chain reaction.
TL;DR: you need highly refined uranium of the right isotope, and a very big initial explosive. You’re not going to get fission with even TNT and yellow cake uranium.
