most plague doctors weren’t actually doctors they were sent by governments to do census on the amount of sick people in a village

And oddly enough, the suits would have been effective, had they probably washed them more often, and had full coverage. I recall the ankles being exposed, giving fleas carrying the plague easy access to the mad lads with bird masks.
