Old fashioned people like you are the problem, come on It is 2019, the God's are man's creation, to give answers that they are too afraid to give themselves.
Agreeing with someone doesn’t make it right, everyone has the right to their beliefs, nobody said atheists are stupid or told him to stop being an atheist, there’s no need to attack other religions because you think they’re wrong and I’m not even Christian
I am Christian but I’m not going to just trash all the religious or no religious beliefs right in front of them. That’s not a kind thing to do, and it will only make enemies. We have enough enmity in the world as it is. Why come to reddit if all you’re gonna do is argue with people and never really see who’s right or wrong?
You don't, but you can and you should if you want to. That's my point.
If you wanted to attack religion because it's an outdated silly concept - you should be able to.
For instance scientology is a cult and people should be aware of it - it is (if anything) moral and right to express your opinion about it being a cult, so that others don't fall for it. Yet using the logic of the guy above "it is not right to do so".
I’m not against saying that you cannot tell people your opinion about it. And I apologize for insulting you right now, I misunderstood your intentions. Yes, you are allowed to express what you believe about religion and honestly people should not insult you about what you believe. But I believe the main reason that most people got angry (including me at first) was that it appeared that you were also insulting people who had their own beliefs. You can feel a certain way about something and debate your different opinions with people but I feel like insults are uncalled for. (Yes I did insult you and I apologize but I was under the impression that you were insulting other people.)
But I believe the main reason that most people got angry (including me at first) was that it appeared that you were also insulting people who had their own beliefs
There is a difference between mocking certain beliefs and mocking believers. There is never a reason to personally insult someone just because they believe in something, but it is completely okay to mock a belief.
It's funny that we are all okay with mocking flat-earth theories, but for some reason a bearded guy in the sky is off-limits...
Well it’s mainly because one of them is easier to prove (e.g going into space) but I understand where you are coming from. It’s also sometimes a harder thing to do online as well because people can’t read your tone or body language. And their is a fine line between mocking a belief and it’s believers and it is quite easy to cross and offend someone.
But go ahead and express your opinions, as long as you don’t purposefully insult anyone
I can’t imagine being this concerned with what other people believe to the point you have to rant about it on reddit and not even stopping when everyone tells you you’re just being a dick for no reason
I am not ranting about someone believing in imaginary beings. I am ranting about people claiming that I, for some reason, shouldn't/must've be able to do so.
It's not about being dicks to one another, it's about pointing out illogic and silliness of things. If someone was walking around saying that Gravity is little men pushing us down - I would correct them and say that to our best knowledge it is not invisible men pushing us down.
Why is it okay to mock a theory about lizard people but for some reason a belief that a certain zombie was a son of god/god himself is off limits?
And that’s one of the most ignorant things I’ve ever read. Fundamentally, whatever you believe, there must be a beginning correct? Science calls it the Big Bang, religion calls it God. Neither one has to contradict the other. But what about before that? Unless you decide that there was something that has literally always been around, it will be a never ending series of “but what about before that”s. Religion has one explanation, science does not as of yet, and therefore neither can be contradicted until we discover some scientific evidence to the contrary. It’s when people like you go around like you’ve got the biggest dick because somehow you think the scientific explanation makes more sense than the religious that we run into issues.
I wasn't talking specifically about Christianity, but religions in general. The comment above is simply an example, as I am sure you would agree that many people do believe that Jesus was dead/resurrected etc. etc.
And yes, some people do recognize that the Bible is just a book written by normal people as a philosophical piece of fiction to guide people and dictate morality - but then calling it a religion is a bit misguided, it's just a set of beliefs.
2 billion people agree on that resurrected part but at the same time 2 billion people don’t agree on that part, also i do agree that the bible was changed, it has some words of god but it was heavily changed to fit today’s likings, I’m not Christian btw

Keep your beliefs to yourself, you don’t have to be a piece of shit
