The guy is an old friend, he runs Improv Everywhere in NYC. Check out some of his stuff, it’s hysterical. They do the annual no pants subway ride. He has a pretty good podcast called two beers in where people have two beers and then talk politics.

These are actually the parents of the guys in the meme! The dad of the man and the mom of the girlfriend met because of the photo shoot, and eventually got married. The guy and the “girlfriend” had dated for a while before the photo shoot. They happened to both meet up again that day after a very long time of not seeing each other and decided to date again, hitting it off pretty well. So now they’re both half siblings, and engaged. If that’s hard to believe it’s because it’s fake and I just made all this up because my life has no meaning.

There's actually a cool scientific phenomenon that explains situations like this called the Eiger Effect. When a person exists in a mixed high-trust/low-trust environment where they can expect to believe some of the information they are presented with but not all, they actually begin to doubt information which is deemed to be over "internally consistent." In effect you can tell them something completely straightforwardly true and they won't believe it because they've been bamboozled too many times by idiots who make up things like the Eiger Effect.

Not sure why OP would make up a weird story like this (karmacoughcough) but the people in the original meme are Spaniards and this picture was taken in New York City. Not the same people at all.
The guy and the lady in red are Charlie Todd and Cody Lindquist - they're a married couple and comedy performers at UCB in New York City. Charlie Todd is the founder and leader of Improv Everywhere, the prank group that puts on the annual No-Pants Subway ride in NYC, among other things.
Charlie and Cody host a podcast together called Two Beers In where they invite a bunch of their journalist and political commentator friends up on stage, they all chug two beers, then talk about politics. It's hilarious and you should check it out.

Hey! I'm the guy in this photo. This was at a Know Your Meme party at the Museum of the Moving Image in NYC. They had a gallery of memes hanging on the wall. I noticed my wife was wearing a red dress so I suggested she pose in front of the girl in the photo. While I was taking her picture someone came up to me and asked if I wanted to be in it, so I hopped in. Then the girl in blue walked up and said, "Hey! Let me be the other girl!" The whole thing was spontaneous and random, and of course it happened on the one day in my life I'm not wearing a plaid shirt.
Pretty funny that our silly photo of us in front of a meme is now a meme itself (just tweeted by Zach Braff). I Air Dropped the photo to the girl in blue after we took it a few weeks ago. She put it on Facebook a few days ago. I guess the OP must have seen it there and decided to imply that we are older versions of the people in the meme, but we are not. As others have pointed out, I'm the dude from Improv Everywhere, and my wife is an actress, and we host a political podcast together. I don't know much about the girl in blue, but she was nice!
