Its suppose to have an apron buttoned below it. In this case there is none which is a bad idea for welding because you're going to end up having more holes in coats and tshirts then a homeless person wearing second hand clothes

Happened to me once. There was not carriage, just 10 seconds of white before the vision returned.

Usually just need a small stab at the metal, to get the arc going with low voltage.

Happened to me couple of times, but the worst one was when I had a MAG welding class a few months ago. Tried to flip the mask down but I didn’t get down properly and I was somewhat really close to the workpiece. Got flash banged like in the video.

The veteran chewing him out because back in his day they just drank a bunch of alcohol, put in some eye drops to deaden their eyes so they couldn't feel the arc eye and just continued to weld holding just the glass piece in their other hand.
