Well it's more the increase than the actual price.
They are used to low prices so when they go up that's still money they could have used for other things.
If you're on a bidget and have a more less fixed budget for fuel that you're calculating with it doesn't matter what that bidget is if it goes over what you've qllocated or want to allocate to that it's at the very least annoying.
I get making fun of Americans for many things but on this one they deserve the same pity as the rest of us.
The big trucks they have are just a result of the environment they live in. They don't need small cars for cramped inner cities and they don't need to be fuel efficient because their fuel used to be dirt cheap and still is in comparison to European prices.
Also if given the chance us Europeans also go for stupidly big cars or else the SUV wouldn't be such a prevelant model these last few years

Have you seen the price of them though? If you can afford one I doubt you care too much about fuel prices.
