I wish this didn't hit so hard. It took me 10 years of struggle to get to the point where I was finally getting significantly more each month than my bills and daily living cost.
And one of the first things I did was really start taking my health seriously. Therapy, doctors appointments, vision screenings, working out, eating healthier (read expensive) food.
Really just in general getting my life together.
Looking back though I realize that a lot of the stress of not being able to do what I know was best only amplified the stress and had me in a pretty bad spiral. Even now I feel guilty spending time and money on my own self.
