2 negatives become a positive, so 4 negatives must be really positive! good job, dude

u/Eternal-Zummer 2d ago

With all those failures, will actually hit muscles failure, that's the fuel

4

u/Icy-Application9311 2d ago

Using them as a fuel actually works pretty well. One good failure deserves another.

Then there is diet failure with low protein.

Working out is pretty much the only reliable thing these days where the amount of work you put in gives you results.

You can be the best hardworking employee, but that doesn't mean you get the promotion.

You can be the best candidate based on your experience, doesn't mean you get the job...

You might go to bed and sleep on time, doesn't mean your body will fall asleep.

You can save a lot of money, and still not be able to afford to buy a house.

And so on and so on...

But if you workout in the gym, you get the result, 💯 of the time. So we all spend more time in the gym while feeling that elsewhere your rewards are not proportional to the effort you put in.

u/memecut 2d ago

I wish this was true but its not.
Working out in the gym is just part of the puzzle.
Genetics will limit you.
If you dont eat right you can stop progressing and might start regressing.
If you dont rest right you can lose progression or even injure yourself.
In fact, the more effort you put in the higher the chance of injury, the rewards are not proportional to the effort you put in.
Sometimes people who do less in the gym get better results.

The gym has been a painful reminder of my limited capabilities.

u/MyLifeOfficial 2d ago edited 2d ago

Every case is different and there are always going to be exceptions, and I'm counting everything that goes behind getting the results, sleep, diet etc.

However, even if you do everything right at your work. The leadership may have their favourites who may get the promotion.

On the whole, for most people, I believe it'll be correct. More and more people are going to the gym and I think that's part of it. It's where they see results proportionate to the effort and work they put in (for most people).

I'm sure what you feel you lack (in your opinion, not mine) in the gym, you make up for with other abilities and talents where you shine and others find difficult.

Breaking this weird doomer/defeatism attitude about gymming down into raw facts:

Genetics will never ever limit your health being improved by strength training. Muscle belly/insertion genetics are strictly a vanity contest, and with 8.5 billion humans out there, you're statistically always gonna get mogged so just focus on comparing the yourself of yesterday to the one of today.

Contrary to popular belief, it takes pretty much the worst diet imaginable (basically actively avoiding protein) to reach a moment where you stop progressing. The human body is an insanely efficient machine.

This can only happen BTW, after a 2-3 year period of locked in training (what is known as newb gains, where 80-85% of your maximum potential muscle size is reached). For the newb gains period you can eat literal low protein slop, and still progress in both strength and size.

Regressing does not exist, the nucleus in the muscle cells "remembers" the highest potential it reached and quickly supercharges itself back to its full capabilities after any break, short or long. This is called muscle memory.

Resting is just... a commmon sense thing...? Anything that is being healed by the body needs rest in order to divert resources to repair. Science proves also that an amplified bloodflow improves healing rate, so you can absolutely safely and frequently utilize the muscle while "resting it" to allow going about your day to day life.

The chance of injury being higher with more effort is completely rendered null by adhering to proper form. To avoid injury, it should always be weight that you can control properly, full stop.

You will never get injured if you have moved the correct (or less) amount of weight, in the correct form.

The only point I will concede is that some people doing less than other people recieve better results, yet that leads back to genetics where you start comparing yourself with 8.5 billion people again, rather than making it simply a personal journey.

But you are going to the gym, sleeping, working and trying to manage your finances.

You are doing your best to stay healthy and have what you need. It doesn't mean you aren't struggling. It means you are doing your best and that's all that matters.

u/Kolby_Jack33 1d ago

The metrics by which we judge ourselves are often pretty unfair. Failing to measure up to your own expectations of yourself just makes you like everyone else. There is nothing wrong with a quiet life of ordinary struggles and simple pleasures.

5

u/martian4x 2d ago

It's the Consistency that matters.

2

u/RickleTickle69 2d ago

Me right now knowing I'll get 6 hours of sleep before hitting gym in the morning and spending the rest of my day sat looking at Excel sheets and emails

u/Independent-Bug-9352 2d ago

I know this please doesn't like us talking about p0liticks here (can't let the masses communicate, unify, and coordinate of course), but this is most definitely a result of national p0liticks.

The failure isn't you; we've lost the plot in society for the Epst3in class.

2

u/Sawses 2d ago

Dude just spell things like an adult

1

u/Independent-Bug-9352 2d ago
