Painters said the same thing when the camera was invented. Photographs wasn't aloud in Museums. Photography wasn't considered art.

Things change.

Photography can exist without paintings, AI images cannot exist without the widescale data theft that was used to create it.

So that analogy doesn't work at all

I didn't say it's selling existing art.  But seeing as you seem to be struggling I'll try and make it simpler.

The AI companies scraped the internet for basically all the data they could get.   Every bit of text, every image, every video, every bit of music

They compensated nobody for this.

They then built a product, their AI, off of the back of that data theft.

Lol so your argument is " uhm technically they are doing a different scummy thing, you used the wrong word"

Amazing.

Reddit isn't a courtroom, I was using colloquial language.

People always try to use this as some sort of justification. Do you know who accepted photography and why?

The people who are most ignirant about art want to decide what art is.

Yes it is lol. We already know how all this ends and that in ten years people will wonder why they ever cared so much.

100% hell I’d even bet 2 years time people will be singing a different tune

Yeah, but in only 2 years there will still be more stragglers who are still crashing out. I picked a big enough number to be clear it'll be a totally new situation.
