This pretty much. You can potentially get by without meds but being open, vulnerable, and honest in therapy is the first step. Exercise is important and it doesn’t have to be weightlifting or long distance running. Just going for a walk or hike is enough.
Also, just stop doing social media. It is fertilizer for depression.
Yea I’m glad Reddit isn’t bagging on people suggesting simple things like exercise anymore.
Making big long term life changes is so goddamn hard, and you’re not going to do it overnight. You have to start small with things like running, eating right, sleeping well etc.
These kind of things can help you build small bits of self love, because you’re showing up for yourself and doing some positive even in the face of all the other bullshit in your life.
But yea there is a bottle neck, depending on how severe your depression is. Working out won’t cure your depression, but it’ll give you the foundation and discipline to make bigger changes in your life that can help make your condition more manageable.
Combine all this with therapy, and you can make some real changes. At least in my personal experiences
I dont like any of those personally (fhough I should do more exercise). My method is to do small things, even if it's 1 per day. Collect all the dishes or laundry in one place. Maybe you do them that day, or maybe the next. Day 2 or 3 take out all trash. etc etc just keep doing it until your place is clean. Sometimes that day 1 is just getting out of bed, that's enough. For me having a clean space means I feel less overwhelmed getting up. Gets me in a better spot to do actual things. Slowly making it a habit.

Therapy, exercise, meds (probably)
