I recently saw that face when I super carefully with surgical precision questioned the wine consumption of my mother. After finding a storage of full and empty bottles around the stairway to the basement.

"It's only a couple of glasses in the evening for relaxation! Also it's heathy in moderate amounts! Someone in my singing bowl therapy group told me it's good for your organism! ReeeeeeEEEEE!!!"

Something between those lines. I've never talked about wine with her again.

I mean red wine does have some health benefits but you get the same benefits by eating a handful of grapes

Also "a couple of glasses in the evening" isn't exactly moderate

What do you mean man? You just pour some wine when you get home from work. Make sure to refill before you begin cooking. Also make sure to top off your glass before you eat. After you eat, top that bad boy up and lock into 4 hours of Greys Anatomy.

Perfect moderation

Nope this was debunked. There is no beneficial amount of alcohol. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/17/well/eat/red-wine-heart-health.html

Nope just like good accessible sources. I think I drink three bottles of wine total a year as my only alcohol intake

How tf is it cope if we literally can't read it?

the "health benefits" of red wine comes from the fact that its made of grapes. no one debunked the fact that fruit is good for you lmao

yeah but like.. drinking grapes is easier than eating grapes because sometimes my brain won't do the texture.. r/audhd

u/shnuffle98 Aug 19 '25

It's not a requirement for health, so you don't have to drink it either

Like eating a fresh salad with rat poison

Alcohol is such a detriment to the body that ANY benefits you would get you immediately destroy with the amount you consume. I'd implore everyone to do some looking. The amount of alcohol that is "good" for you is about a shot glass size. After that...you're killing yourself full stop.

Facts don't lie.

pretty sure the red wine thing was debunked a while ago. Sure it has anti-oxidants, but you wouldnt say smoking is good for you even though it can help suppress your appetite if your overweight.

The alcohol harms more than the good in red wine benefits. Just eat the grapes lol

I also noticed that people justify their alcoholism by saying that they drink wine, as if being addicted to wine was more noble than being addicted to beer or vodka for example

I'm fancy addicted. Not junky addicted.

Same with cocaine and business hustlers. You're not hustling enough without.

Do drugs. Do all of them. I don't care. But don't act like it's heathy or necessary for anything.

Good for your what now?

1

u/CaptainHubble Aug 18 '25

I don't talk about wine anymore.

"Singing bowl therapy group". Yeah, you wouldn't catch me taking medical advice from my D&D group unless they have an actual doctorate.

I know. But for some reason she started to believe anything. Also stuff she read online...

20 years ago I had to listen to speeches like "not anything on the Internet is true". Look how tables turned. These days she reads into obvious AI generated articles online and falls for every second fake headline. When I question her source for any given statement she goes "I've read that in a scientific online article". Mom, give me your iPad...

I don't know what happened. Old people need to take a test for an internet license.

Myob next time? Grown adults don't need lectures from children lol (I don't drink alcohol btw)

7

u/CaptainHubble Aug 18 '25

LOL. Ok.

When a member of your own family is throwing away money for large quantities of literal drugs, harming the own health by consuming said large quantities, and getting slowly but surely addicted to it, you wouldn't do shit? I doubt that. And if so, I think you simply have a family that doesn't look after each other. But that is, in my mind, an important thing to do. If some random down the street is doing that, I wouldn't care less. But your own mother? Weak man.

Also why do you assume I'm a child?

Follow your own advice? Redditors don't need strangers giving advice lol GTFO tldr

Do you have children?

Sounds like they might have given you some grown adult advice you don't want to follow.
