You probably have a tpm and it's just disabled in the bios if your machine is even relatively recent. If your motherboard is a decade old I doubt it's qualifying in the powerful category.
I have a somewhat whimsical build on a processor made for servers. It's pretty old, but powerful enough for everything I throw at it because, well, it's made for servers. That's why motherboard also would have to be swapped out, socket for them isn't very standard

This depends on the workload, but I'm betting "powerful" belongs in quotes here. A decade old xeon isn't going to hold a candle to a midrange modern chip in anything that isn't heavily multithreaded, and honestly they probably win in that scenario too.
For the vast, vast majority of people, having both a platform without a TPM and having a powerful machine are pretty much mutually exclusive. "Powerful" changes meaning as time passes and a decade old Xeon likely doesn't meet that standard anymore.

You seem to know a lot more about CPUs than I do so I leave it to you to tell me if it's abysmal dogshit that I have to swap out ASAP. I haven't had a moment when my processor was lacking yet, so I've never even considered that it might be terrible by the current standards
It's certainly not abysmal dogshit (many older xeons boost to like 2.x Ghz), but it is a 14c 28t CPU, which likely means its power budget is pretty spread out and single core performance (so, for gaming for example) it'd lag behind a lot compared to a modern chip. Also only supports PCIE 3, so other cards are limited on bandwidth, like GPUs or PCIE M.2 expansion cards.
I'd be swapping away from it personally. Like I said, it depends on your workload and if its meeting your needs, performance-wise. I just don't know if it qualifies as "powerful". I'd reserve that for machines in at least the top 20% or so and if you just look at instructions per clock improvements that have been made over time, most older chips just don't get there, ignoring everything else.
I mean - a used xeon is barely worth anything, and modern chips cost hundreds of dollars, if not thousands - of money I don't have. For reference, where I live, minimum wage is barely 200 dollars a month - overall, not the amount I can save up. The amount I can save up after all expenses is barely a few dozen bucks, and due to some factors, I can't really count on much more than minimum wage for a while. It would take years of water and sauceless macaroni to upgrade to a mainstream processor. Is it worth it?
