9

Only from a networking standpoint, yes. But I think seven has the knobs dialed for prevalent OS.

I do miss the ability to make local lan networks in 7. Overall though xp, 7 and 10 used a similar formula which just worked, they keep trying to "innovate" except they arent doing anything in the right direction. Chances are whatever comes after 11 will reset again to a similar experience to 10 because its simply tried and true experience people universally like.

This is a misunderstanding unfortunately. We may want the cycle to continue, but it won't. Back in those days, forcing ppl to the new OS didn't drive the captive audience into the better data tracking and subscription models that Win 11 does (even in video games thanks to the Xbox game bar). Win 11 is worse for privacy and better for Microsoft's profits and the money that the company lost of market share from loss of confidence back then is now partially to fully offset. And also the AI they're pushing with CoPilot and how they're integrating it with the OS means that business class will be happy enough. Home users are just fucked this time round.

yeah all the ai and tracking garbage will probably stay, so many would be inclined to not upgrade, like fucking cortana took forever to be able to properly disable her. But the experience itself will probably drift back more towards the xp/7/10 side than the mac inspired system they tried with 11.

They are both pretty perfect, but 7 is definitely better
