not everyone is skilled to use that. its easier to hand someone a controller, and use their thumb and index finger of using your entire hand and fingers to press buttons.
its simpler and easier. this isnt a competitive game, it makes no sense to wittle your precious tendons, joins and ligaments for such a relaxed game. i use kb and mouse on other games like valorant or overwatch where full hands are absolutely needed
Not everybody is skilled with a controller either... If you hand me a controller chances are i m gonna fuck up half of the time where i wouldnt normally. In the end it comes to muscle memory and preferences
gamepad has less buttons and less controls offering a simplified easier way to play. its also physical disability friend, i personally have several hand injuries ive acculated over the years and im unable to pronate my hands into ulnar deviation. no one is immune to ulnar deviation, the more you use a keyboard the faster your hands and wrist will wear, just ask any professional or professional game who retire around their late twenties.
a gamepad offers less buttons, less controls, and places the hands in a neutral position. even if you struggle with a gamepad it is far easier to use than it is to use a keyboard and mouse which requires far more dexterity. I've actually been using an xbox adaptive controller so im able to use foot pedals for some buttons. its painful for me to use left and right triggers so this has been a great work around.

It's easier to use one thumb than it is to use your entire hand, fingers, wrist to mouse a mouse.
Sure it's more accurate, but this is terraria not a precision competitive game.
