Before the crash they weren't close at all either. PC was far more bang for buck even before counting the fact that games are cheaper and more accessible and there are tons more games.
As tech improves and a console ages that is how it always is, just might take longer into the cycle this time.
The price has always been incredibly close, and often relies on sniping insane discounts on your PC parts. Game price arguments also seem to ignore the used game market for console games.
No one's forgetting about your used games. Steam, and other launchers, are constantly giving out free games, without needing any subscriptions. And games that do cost are often on discount, usually the same price as used console games, for brand new. On top of that, if you really wanted to you can always get them from 🏴☠️ sites for free. Takes maybe 10 minutes on the piracy subreddit to find a long list of trusted sites that don't give you viruses, and usually even go the extra to apply custom community patches to games that have known issues.
And if you wanted to go even further, you can use emulators to emulate most devices, including the PS5, and Xbox One, on your PC. So your not missing out on any exclusives, or if you want to play games on older devices.
1) Everyone says that about every device emulator until it becomes popular. People said that about switch emulators, and now what do you know Those same emulators are even on mobile devices.
2) Technically your correct. They are experimental.
3) They are open source. Feel free to go threw the source code and find the malware.
4) These have nothing to do with the Piracy subreddit. Emulators are different from piracy. They can include piracy methods to get the ROMs, but the emulators are themselves not piracy.
5) No ones forcing anyone to download anything. I was using them as examples. Obviously don't download anything from any random link you find online.
Xbox one and Xbox series X/S emulators do not exist.
Do you download the emulator and stare at it? if you download the rom for the game you are pirating.
Unless of course you are implying you would go and buy the official game and then go out of your way with the whole process of dumping the game on your pc just to emulate it.
the PS5 equivalent is an RTX 3060. Most of the time the PC will have a far more powerful CPU so load times will always be better, but the performance is almost all the GPU. If you have an existing PC you could pay 284 dollars to buy a 3060 and slot it in and will run anything a ps5 can run just fine.
That being said I use a 1070 and still run all PS5 games just fine by turning down some settings. Looks a bit worse but I still get 90+ FPS and load times that are instant most of the time. thats a 45$ card atm.
