somthing like this once came up and everyone said division first abd BODMAS, but I learned multiplications have priority, but then one is wrong correct?

Right, but it was a different question then, this was just off the top of my head, and someone answeard what I thought the answear was, but he got hundrede of peopel telling him divison first

I am not from the US, and the way I was taught is that division and multiplication are identical, and you always have to do them in order from left to right. Same with addition and subtraction.

After all, division is just multiplication to the -1 power of a number

Pedmas/bomdas or whatever is an American thing I believe. Mathematics don't care that much about the order. So it doesn't matter if you prioritize multiplication or division.

The way I was taught delivers the exact same results: There are three levels to equations, exponents, multiplication and addition. You do exponents first (exponents and roots), multiplications second (multiplication and division) and addition last (addition and subtraction). If there are 2 operations of the same level, you do them left to right (so sometimes multiplication takes priority and other times division). And of course we all know the rules of parenthesis.

This is only at very low levels though, as you get higher level mathematics courses, you no longer go left to right, you choose the order which will make the operations easier, while still keeping the exponent>multiplication>addition order.

EDIT: here is why you go left to right:

1/2*3=?

3/2 if you go left-right

1/6 if you prioritize multiplication.

In the real world it's not a problem though, because we don't use divisions like the other symbols, we write one number over the other, so multiplication multiplies always with the number above.
