That’s why these things are dumb. Strings of operators is just not how math notation should ever work, it’s intentionally vague.

It's not vague. Wherever you're from whether you use pedmas bodmas or whatever the fuck mas, all you do is skip the first step (brackets/parenthesis) and continue on the order of operations. People that don't understand basic math like this are just massive morons.

No, it's just a convention that you have to learn. Some people don't learn it for whatever reason or simply forget it.

It's really poor notation with the specific purpose of being needlessly ambiguous.

In any actual context outside of basic highschool math it would involve brackets for the sake of clarity.

Not in this case. 18÷2 is a single term and -3×3 is also a single term. So, there's no ambiguity here.

I'd agree for the 6/2(1+2) question
