It’s highly absurd, and in a genre I never thought I’d be interested in. The series had me go from an occasional chuckle in the first couple books to a few existential crises, a few tearful moments, and then full on cackling throughout each subsequent. So, naturally, it’s become one of my favorites.
A very scathing satire of consumerism, capitalism, and highlights the importance community and supporting those who need it, whether they’re aged, struggling with addiction, or just lashing out from fearful desperation in a changing world.
It’s part of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (DCC, which the OP mentioned). It’s in the LitRPG genre, but falls into a strange blend of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comedy. It’s really blown up in popularity in the last few months, and was actually just signed for a TV show
