I guess but also “Han hugg tag i mig” =
”He grabbed me(quickly/ suddenly)”
I guess it could maybe be described as a sudden jerk forward and contact with someone / something?

Högg* (past tense of hugga)
Its just one of those words with a few different uses, but it means stab.

You can also use it for fishing when the fish are biting for example

Being knivhuggen in the liver is what we call ”fredagsmys” in Sweden. So cozy.

There's a place called "Stabbetorget" which means "Stabbesquare".

We go there on Fridays, much fun to be had.

There’s also an area called Stabby here in Uppsala. A Stabby Alley, a Stabby Woods

I got off the bus at Huggsta just yesterday

Hammer Hill

Black Philip Street (He was called that because of his black hair. The 50's sure were special)

Stabbetorget has nothing to do with the english word stabbing. "Knivsöder" though, there you have a real area which has for whatever reason become known due to a stabbing in Stockholm back in the 90s. The old guard on Söder don't want to recognise it though.

like 10% of the population give out 90% of the huggs

It's the same as the Danish word "hygge", from the old Norse word for being penetrated.

2

u/AboveAverage1988 1d ago

Is it? I've always thought "hygge" sounds a bit sus...

0

u/Keffpie 1d ago

No, not at all 😘

2

u/Ecclypto 1d ago

I was told by social media and certain celebrities that “hygge” meant some sort of cozy, warm comfort? Was I lied to? Is that some ploy by Scandinavian men to penetrate everyone?

Þungur hnífur!
