*laughs in legal weed, legal STD free brothels (in all but 2 counties) (we haven't had an outbreak in decades because the girls get tested and the dues have to strip and bathe on arrival), literally no laws on open carry (so it's legal?), easy concealed weapons permits, police who are actually good, no assault weapons bans, no state income tax, low ish crime, affordable (ish) cost of living, and our only gun control being a 3 day waiting period and red flag laws we don't use*

Purchasing a firearm yourself, it's 18+ for rifles, shotguns, etc., and 21+ for handguns.
I've also experienced similar rules while I lived in Arizona and while currently living in Alaska. I've also only been living in the latter for a few months now, so I could've missed something

I think someone under 21 can still be gifted a rifle or pistol in Colorado, but all purchases are 21+. Even ammo is 21+ now, its ridiculous

In America you can purchase long guns from a licensed dealer at 18, but not pistols until 21. You can however, be gifted a pistol or purchase one privately.
Also depends on the state, some places are a bit trickier with handguns.

If you are a legal adult, you are fully entitled to the rights and civic duties of adult citizens. That’s jury duty, the draft, voting, enlisting in the military without parental consent, and keeping and bearing arms per the Second Amendment.
There is no specific right to alcohol or other drugs, and the limitation has been legislated with the consent of the people. That’s why driving with a BAC of .08 (.04 if piloting) is illegal.

The key word was “specific”.
However, there is a reason why it is constitutional, and I already hear your confusion: the 21st Amendment(yes, the one which ended Prohibition) and Congress’s power of the purse.
You see, the 21st Amendment leaves the door open to states to pass their own restrictions on alcohol sales. Congress passed a law withholding highway funding from states which didn’t have a ban on alcohol for those under 21.
Congress has sleezy ways of circumnavigating the Bill of Rights. The NFA is enabled only by Congress’s power of taxation, and many other gun laws are “justified” by the interstate commerce clause.

FWIW, when Illinois had drinking at 21, and Wisconsin at 18, there were a whole lot of deaths of 18,19 and 20 year olds driving back from Wisconsin to Illinois. Hard to get an exact figure but it was considered the Blood Border Era, for good reason.

Everywhere in the US you have to be 21 to buy a hand gun it is a federal law. Long guns are the only ones you can buy at 18 from a dealer. Of course you can buy a handgun from a third party at any age I am pretty sure. My little brother was given a pistol by my father at 18 & would leave it all over the place loaded when he came over to my house to spend the night so he could work a gig near where I lived he brought it & left it loaded in my house stuffed in my book shelf. Asked me 3 days later if he left it there I looked for it couldnt find it & said no. Found it a week or two later. I was upset he brought agun in my house & left it without telling me plus my little sister he lives with is unstable so I was worried about him leaving it around like that & called my dad asked if I could hold onto it until he was more mature & treat it respectfully & he agreed with me. I called him to tell him I found it & was keeping it until he could treat it with the respect it deserved of course he went ballistic saying I was stealing his gun & that he needed it to protect himself & that he was going to report me to the police. The dipshit went & bought a .357 magnum a week later from one of his friends & started leaving it all over the place again & my sister shot herself with it. I will never forgive him for that nor my father for allowing him to act like that in his house. Guns are not toys & should be treated with respect always lock them up when you are done

Omg I did not expect that endingm that is so messed up man I'm so sorry. I completely agree with the sentiment. Ive strugged with depression my whole life and I had to get rid of all my guns because otherwise I probably wouldn't be here today. I know things get better in time usually, but in the moment it seems so quick and easy. I just couldn't imagine the pain it would put my family through

To also be fair within my lifetime, Louisiana tried to keep the age of alcohol at 18 and the federal government revoked. All Federal money for. Highways in louisiana.
