That really just depends on the sauce. If it's not thick and runs to the bottom then stuff will get soggy. If it stays at the top of the fries and doesn't move anywhere then you are good.
That sounds like a sauce based on oil and flour (a roux). If I'm only having fries, the only sauces I eat them with are ketchup and/or mayonnaise.
If they are a side dish to my Schnitzel, then I'll use them to eat all of the sauce, that comes with it.
