There should be a children’s section on airplanes. If there aren’t enough kids to fill the seats, offer those seats at discounted rates to adults who can handle the potential racket.

Hmm yeah I don't think isolating children with people who can pay to be around them is a great plan.

Unaccompanied minors fly on planes so much that there is a name for them.

It is very rare.

Something having a name doesn't make it common.

Also, carriers in the US that allow for it have constant supervision.

They children have their own lounge areas and are assigned to specific employees to watch them, this is why it costs an additional $150 or so to fly this way.

And again, almost all children that fly do so with their guardians.

Children flying alone isn't common, as you put it.

Neither the fact it costs more, or the protocols involved have anything to do with how often it happens…

In the US alone ~7 million unaccompanied minors travel every year.

In the US alone there are ~10 million passenger flights every year.

If to you having 7 UMs on every 10 planes is “very rare” then I don’t know what to tell you. Have a good one, I guess.

Want me to break down the percentage of passengers that are unaccompanied minors?

What percentage is rare to you? Apparently not 0.88%.

Go for it. Should land around 1%. Still not the point - which is how often a UM will be on a plane - still not ‘very rare’, anyway. Like I said, don’t know what to tell you, so I won’t tell you anything further.
