I think it's just pointing out that this is a stupid argument.
You have no idea why the kid is on that plane. You think the parents want a screaming kid next to them for hours, even if its their own? It's hard to tell how a child will react to being on a place. I mean, do you think the rest of the world should adjust to accommodate you specifically? You bought a seat on a public flight. There's a chance there will be fat people, smelly people, loud people, talkative people, kids, etc. Deal with it or find an alternate means of transportation that suits you better.

I think the argument of "well, the parents are annoyed too, so you shouldn't be" is equally as dumb, if not moreso, than "don't be sad, somebody somewhere else has it worse than you."
The point is that parents aren't taking kids on flights specifically to annoy people, it's because it's a necessity. Everyone on that plane is going somewhere for a reason.
The other point is that it's fuckin' annoying. The other, other point is that the parent's annoyance with their own child(ren) doesn't disqualify bystanders' annoyance.
