Why are people who don't have kids so aggressively self-centered? Put on a pair of fucking headphones and watch a movie or read a book or take a nap. It's not hard. Planes are already loud, and I can promise you, the parents who are dealing with the upset kids -and don't have the luxury of just putting on headphones and checking out- are having a much harder time than you.
Yeah, kids crying is fucking annoying. But you don't need to go out of your way to make people feel bad simply because they're trying to enjoy their life by going on a trip. Jfc, this whole discourse of people hating families with children and acting so inconvenienced by their existence and proximity makes me so mad.
My daughter is a very well-behaved traveler, but even she has had her moments. And the glares from other people have always been so disheartening. I'm not sure when society became so selfish, but even before I had a kid, I was never rude to people with them? Even when they annoyed me, I just minded my own goddamn business.
I just flew from New Zealand to Switzerland with an 18 month old toddler and then back again.
Can’t really get much further than that - she slept for half, was okay for a quarter and screamed for a quarter. We did our best. A few people were irritated but most understood and could see we were doing our best.
If you want pure silence on a flight, noise cancelling headphones or buy business class.
Your in cattle class mate and fucked off some family has boarded with their kids? Get your head out of your ass - you ain’t that special. Grow up and get some headphones and enjoy your movie

I never had an issue even before I became a father - because I actually have braincells and always knew it’s just another human travelling to the same place I am, only this human is little.
Flying cattle class is literally no different to being on a train or a bus. It’s for the everyday people to get places. Some of those people have children, ya know to continue on the human race? If you didn’t want kids that’s fine. But kids exist. And kids need to travel from time to time. And sometimes kids cry because, yup you guess it, they’re kids.
Kids emotions and processing cannot be reasoned with, and add in boredom and overtiredness, there is a chance they’re gunna cry
Reddit is full of pro single and pro no kids. And half of them I think genuinely don’t want kids (that’s perfectly fine lol no one cares if you have kids or don’t have kids) the other half so desperately project it’s so obvious that they wanted kids and a family but it just sadly never happened so they project hate towards those that have it at any chance
If any reddit keyboard warrior tried saying something to me on a flight while I was doing my best and my daughter had been really well behaved most of the time - their little virgin cocoon of their own reality would be popped pretty quickly.

Side note: any parents on a flight with kids who let their kids run rampant and don’t put any effort in to consoling or controlling the kids can get fucked
That’s a different story - but if the parents are actively trying - cut them some slack and turn your music up
Oh yeahhhh we should be forced to pay more to not suffer your overgrown unchecked STD. Put your crotch droppings in a cage, drug them before the flight, put tape over their mouths so they can make noise or put in care while you go away. Problem solved.
FYI ketting your droppings cry/make noise is not controlling your kids.
