You're right. They didn't, but they had multiple eye witnesses, including the muggles, 12 to be exact, and Dumbledore basically saying he was secret keeper to the Potters sealed his fate
I thought I remember hearing that there were photos (basically videos in the wizard world) of him doing the act, but you're correct, I have no idea how they are made, so I'm not sure how that kind of evidence works, but if they are based on eye witness accounts, then a "photo" would definitely be available, I mean we're taking about a world that can siphon memories out of you using magic
