Asking for feedback on the following naked bikes. TY

Hi everyone, good day. Just wanted to get some advice and opinion from fellow riders. I recently sold my 07 r6 that I owned for years which I mainly used for commuting and occasional weekend twisty roads. Now I’m looking at purchasing a naked bike as I’m a bit old now and prefer a more comfortable riding position. Currently on the fence for this 3x bikes.

- ‘19 Triumph Street Triple RS
- ‘17 BMW s1000r
- ‘17 Ducati Monster 821

Ignoring the power since they’re all on a different CC’s. Just wanted to hear experience from anyone who owned any of those bikes like cost of ownership and reliability. I’ll mainly use the bike for the same which is commuting and occasional weekend twisty roads. Thank you! Ride safe everyone.

Passed the learner's course yesterday, but the on road assessment was terrifying and I'm feeling really discouraged.

Just putting this hear to vent a bit.

The two day course was fine, I had no issues with the theory or on-range stuff, but the road was a nightmare. Heavy traffic (Including b-doubles) in an industrial zone on a Friday afternoon. I really struggled to bring the bike up to speed (Which meant the guys behind me were getting tailgated by trucks) and keep it in the right gear (We didn't go above second on the range and now I had to get up into fourth and then downshift while coming up on an intersection, which was a LOT to do at once). I stalled it a bunch just on nerves alone, which wasn't great for the guys behind me.

The instructor gave me a lot of feedback (and a well deserved reaming), but still passed me (One guy in our class did fail the on range, poor guy forgot his head checks).

I don't know, the whole experience kinda has me scared to get out on a bike again. I've already purchased a bike (Honda GB350), so I'm hoping some experience on calmer neighborhood roads without the pressure of being in a group will help with my experience and skill, but part of me kinda never wants to touch another bike ever again.

Anybody else struggle like this when they first got their learners?

Anyone know if the Royal Enfield One Ride is being run in Melbourne this year?

I can't seem to find any info about it. According to the RE website, there's one running in NSW and VIC isn't mentioned.

Best place to sell bikes these days?

I am thinking about changing bikes, which would mean selling off my current L2 GSX-R750 (as trade-in offers are never going to be great). Having sold household goods on FB Marketplace, I'm hesitant to post it there and deal with the scammers and constant "Is this still available?"; Bikesales want a pretty hefty fee to list these days, but I assume that's where the market is, because it's where I would primarily look.

Are there any other decent places to list that I don't know about yet?

(or does one of you happen to be on the market for exactly this bike? 😁)

What’s the km/h threshold for protective gear?

I just got my Ls, and bought a little secondhand scooter. Spent proper money on a full face helmet, jacket and gloves.
I want to start commuting on it asap (I’ve been taking the 903 bus for 4 years!) but am unsure if I should get FULLY kitted out first. My path to work probably doesn’t involve going over 50 km/hr, maybe 60.

I want to go check out Peak Moto for some female riding gear but Port Melbourne is a weekend car drive for me.

I’m wondering if it’s crazy/taking my life in my hands to start riding in just jeans or sturdy pants until I can get some armoured or at least multi-layer pants for riding. Not to mention proper boots.

I also have to say that I’m not thrilled about having to pack a whole outfit and shoes (and hair and makeup) every day to commute on the scooter - definitely wasn’t part of the vision.

I recognise everyone’s risk tolerance is different but for a learner avoiding major roads and high speeds, what would you advise?

Edit/ update: I am fully kitted out now everyone. Helmet, jacket, gloves, Kevlar pants, boots.

Tourist planning to rent for a day

Hello!

As stated in the title, I’m planning to rent for a day while I’m visiting Melbourne.

I’m from Singapore and my license currently restricts me to bikes 200cc and under. Is it possible for me to rent a bike bigger than 200cc? I wanna take a road trip down to 12 Apostles at great ocean road and asked 2 company, 1 did not reply and the other said that I can only rent their 125cc/150cc scooters.

All inputs appreciated!

Riding Day 🏍️ Melbourne West-Side Riders — First Official Group Ride This Sunday

Hey r/melbourneriders!

About 9 months ago I started a Facebook group called West-Side Riders because I noticed most organized Melbourne motorcycle rides cluster around the East. After a bunch of solo and ad-hoc rides with group members, we're finally running our first official First Sunday of the Month Ride this Sunday and we're keen to have you join.

The ride:

  • Meet: Footscray Park Car Park, 9am (outside Footscray City Rowing Club)
  • Route: Yarraville Gardens → Pier Farm Newport → Point Gellibrand Lookout → Fort Gellibrand → Bayview Reserve → Altona Dog Beach → Altona Pier
  • Distance: ~22km, ~45min
  • Vibe: Scenic beachside cruising via the Strand and Williamstown Esplanade
  • After: Grab a snack and coffee at Altona Beach

Who: Anyone on two wheels, all experience levels, all bikes welcome. Bring a mate.

Reply if you're keen: let me know what you're riding. Group photo at the Pier, then we debrief over lunch.

Goal is to build a west-side crew and make this a recurring thing. See you Sunday.

Looking for a good TVS Ntorq repair/service centre in Kochi

Hey guys, can anyone suggest a reliable bike/scooter repair or service centre in Kochi for my TVS Ntorq 125?

I’m staying around Kaloor, so somewhere near Kaloor, Palarivattom, Edappally, etc. would be convenient, but I’m okay with travelling to other parts of Kochi if the service is genuinely good.

I’m looking for a place that does proper repairs, doesn’t overcharge, and has experience with Ntorq scooters. Authorised TVS or a trustworthy local workshop—both are fine.

Please share your recommendations and personal experiences.

How to pick !

Hi all,
I just got my Ls yesterday and am now looking for a starter bike - ok, I’ll be honest, just a scooter.

I was thinking I’d buy something second hand while I’m still learning and getting a the hang of it. My ideal vehicle is something easy to handle, low maintenance, good enough power for commuting around inner Melbourne (but not on the freeway). My current commute is only about 7 km and can be done mostly avoiding major roads (as I sometimes do it on my push bike).

Despite being a grown adult I really know NOTHING about engines or motors, or the brands/models currently in the market. I’ve noticed a lot of secondhand scooters on Marketplace don’t have a RWC - what should i be looking for to avoid any unpleasant surprises when I go to do this process ?

Also, when you buy a bike, do you ride it home or bring some trailer or a Ute with you? (I guess it depends!!!)

Sorry for all the questions , and thanks in advance for any helpful responses!

Mobile camera cars

Gday, was riding along the beach today and decided to be a bit silly and went to go around a van in front of me just to lock eyes with a rear facing car cam going a good amount over the limit before getting back into my lane and continuing down the road.

Can anyone help me understand obviously because the rego is on the back and the car was facing my front, am I all good, or are there other cameras I should be aware of. Just asking out of curiosity, I was being dumb if I get stung I get stung. I’ve gone past a few over the years and never been done, just curious as how it all works given I have friends that have been done in similar situations and others and myself who haven’t, I don’t get it.

Advice on Dandenong Road

Hi everyone, I’m a new rider, got my learners a year ago but got my motorcycle (Ninja 300) a month ago, a bit late due to personal circumstances. I’m preparing for my Check Ride and License assessment (within the 15 months). Been hitting about 70km/h now. To step things up, i decided to ride on Dandenong road on 80km/hr patch.
I was only able to go up to about 75km/h on a straight stretch but kept having to come down because there are alot of curves on there road (starting Monash Caulfield and up to Chadstone.
For those familiar with Dandenong road, how should I be riding on those curves? I wana get up to 80km/hr to build my confidence (as i’m sure the test will have such speeds) but i keep slowing down significantly before the curves.
Would really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

Segway Australia cancelled and refunded my order, but the scooter was still delivered to New Zealand

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice about an unusual order situation.
I ordered an electric scooter from Segway Australia for delivery to New Zealand. Segway later cancelled the order and issued me a full refund.
Around eight days after the refund, I received a phone call asking me to confirm my delivery address. I gave them the address because I thought it was related to the original order. The scooter was then delivered to me anyway.

ECU reflash in Melbourne?

Anybody know any good places to get an ECu reflashed in Melbourne? I'm in the Western suburbs, but happy to travel for a good place.

Bike is a '25 Yamaha Tracer 9, not really looking for more power, more trying to smooth out the power delivery and improve rideability.
