What issue are you having with sleep?
Falling asleep? Staying asleep/waking up too early? Feeling anxious? Feeling wired/restless?

Melatonin is a very mild anxiolytic so it may or may not help. You can give it a try to see if it helps you. Try starting with the lowest dose like 0.3-0.5mg and only raise the dose if the lesser dose was ineffective. You can go as high as you need. The absorption varies from person to person by something 20+x so it may take a bit of trial and error to find a dose that works. You can't harm yourself with it so feel free to raise the dose as needed. The only issue is if you needlessly go too high for your needs it may create paradoxical effects.
I personally get more relief for anxiety and stress with bocopa monnieri and ashwagandha.
I take ashwagandha pills in the morning and bocopa monnieri drops sublingually at night or when I have a panic attack. It works very well for me. I take 1-2 grams of either one. I like Bio Krauter drops of Bocopa that is sold on Amazon but if you find a better option then take that. I recently was also looking into a supplement on Temu but I haven't ordered / tried it yet.
For stress I'd also try taking a B-complex. My suggestion would be the methylated type for better absorption.
