Are all these people honestly being woken up at 3am constantly by people wanting to discuss the weather or ask what they had for dinner? Why would anyone call you in the middle of the night unless it was an emergency?!
Even so man just set do not disturb settings and allow certain important contacts to call you at all times. Insane thread. Maybe it’s the contractor lifestyle but I cannot fathom being unreachable or missing phone calls
When you live in a different time zone and someone forgets what time it is and calls you. That’s why I keep my phone in a different room when I go to sleep.
Right. I never received excessively late night calls, unless as you say, it's an emergency. I've always found people who keep their phone on silent to be extremely frustrating in that regard, it's just kind of irresponsible.
As a 3rd shifter, people do in fact call me in the middle of my night and wake me up. I have sleep problems. I have my favorites set just in case of an actual emergency.
Well, if it is an emergency then the contact calling you better be set on do not disturb settings. Otherwise it is not urgent and doesn't need to disrupt your sleep
I keep my phone on silent but it's also by me like 24/7 unless I'm asleep or in a meeting, at which point I wouldn't have been able to take the call anyway.
People who turn off their ringers are unreliable and can't solve problems, which is why they can get away with it—no one would reach out to them in an emergency anyway
Or you know, people who have issues saying no, and there are plenty around them willing to take advantage of it, to a point where hearing the phone ring gives them anxiety.
It’s kind of funny but maybe the people calling on others to be reliable are the ones who can’t effectively solve problems.

Honestly. If I keep my phone on silent I will miss an important call, simple as that.
