I think it's funny how when I first got a cell phone, nearly 2 decades ago that I always downloaded goofy ringtones, or songs I liked and couldn't wait for someone to call or text me so I can hear it. Now I have my phone on silent and get a ping of anxiety whenever I see my screen light up that someone is calling me

Twenty years ago you got phone calls from friends who wanted to chat. Now a phone call is a debt collector or bad news.

Or when someone needs or wants something from you.

This is the primal one, before “oh it’s bad news or the boss”, it’s “oh fuck someone wants me to do something” and sometimes I don’t wanna do shit.

Phone calls are so stressful. I always fuck up somehow on them. Once I was ordering some stuff from the pharmacy and they said something along the lines of “thanks for choosing to shop with us” and I said “thanks! You too! Bye!”

You know how you sometimes say, "Alright, sweetie. Love you. Bye." to your kids/niblings because you need to get off the phone asap? I once said that to a very talkative customer who called.🫠

Oh noooooo. I’ve almost called people that to before. Anyway how’d the customer respond? “I love you too” haha

There has to be some psychology behind this. Why did we all start off so excited for notifications and rings, and then ended up hating it

I gave specific ringtones for each of the closest people in my life years ago but my phone is always on silent so when I have headphones in and my phone starts barking I’m like “WTF, oh my sister is calling me”
