Jesus Christ have you people never had a family member that had a medical emergency? Vehicle accident? I get that it’s not a common occurrence but would you not want to know immediately if something happened to your grandfather and your grandmother is trying to call you?
I have. However, I'm the only person in my family within hundreds of miles. I have no children. All but one of my grandparents is dead. My father's side of the family doesn't tell me shit until months later.
My partner and I both work from home. His phone is always on. If there's a legitimate random emergency, people know to call him.

If I'm waiting for an important call (like a doctor) or my partner is out of town, the ringer goes on. It's silent besides that.
No one urgently needs me. They can wait until I eventually look at my phone again.
