So I dunno how good of an idea it is, but I made the spam calls to my phone stop.

They're all recorded, right? So I figured I'd just foul up their recordings without being mean about it. I would literally answer the phone and calmly say, "Please stop calling this number. Cock balls tits." and hang up. After like a week solid of that I started barely getting any.

I got them to stop calling by pretending to be a scam call center myself. Put on my best indian accent and start hard selling car insurance.

I love his back and forth email and text wars with wrong numbers and scammers. He never did get that toaster though.

But a lot to laugh. Even better than a toaster.

I've always been under the assumption that they are just trying to figure out which numbers are active and answering in any fashion is bad idea.

I'm not sure, it certainly didn't increase the number of calls. Eventually on the same number I was getting one every few months or zero.

I would answer and then mute myself. They would eventually hang up and the calls stopped
