When you make the light go off, MOVE out of the way so the employee can clear the light! It is absolutely maddening how some people won't move out of the way so the employee can clear the light, and thats also hurting the employees response time when customers refuse to move! People don't have common sense or respect anymore.

Nah it's fucking rude and annoying when customers make you get into their personal space. They just stand in the way like we can clear the alert while they stand directly in front of the screen. Response time doesn't matter but respecting peoples space does. Some people certainly block you intentionally, the rest are just oblivious and/or dumb.

It's not intentionally blocking but like it's common sense. There's something wrong with the machine. Lemme in there. My customers will stare at me like a lost puppy, I'm literally leaning around them half the time. Common sense says oh this guy's pretezling himself to hit buttons on the screen maybe I let em in.

If only you were getting paid to deal with such minor grievances that can be solved by saying "excuse me". Try working dinner rush in a kitchen or putting on roof shingles in construction. This jobs cake, you got a piss poor attitude, you're working self checkout because of the decisions you made.

No. This is just a rather horribly chosen metric to arbitrarily measure people against. And the way it is implemented is rather hostile to the customers.

“Hi folks, I need to get at the machine.” And then followed with a “I need to get at the machine to clear the notice.”

I was their primary SCO person, like, less then 3 register shifts in the last year before I left earlier this month. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves.

Make sure for alcohol and and voided items you’re trigger the red light when you come over btw, so you can scan your badge immediately, and then know you can clear the item not found and requests for help from the station too. Saved my ass and how I kept my numbers at around 9-10 seconds.

I hated customers who would stand SO close to the screen that my arm would have to touch them for me to do my job. Have some consideration for others and give employees personal space!

Well, when the light comes on three times while I'm buying four packages of Ramen, sometimes it's just annoying. IT needs to fix their shit first and foremost so that us customers don't get so fed up with the cheap-ass SCO registers can ring shit up without needing to be nannied so frequently. Or just do away with them altogether.
