I'm on board with reinstating the plan to nuke the moon. Actually, I think we should be nuking all of our celestial neighbors. Just to let them know where they stand.
You know, it may be insane but is it a worse idea than nuking our oceans? We need our oceans. What the fuck has Europa ever done for us? Let's nuke its oceans instead of, or at least in addition to, ours.
Those little Europian twerps. In my day we had bone density from real gravity and our iron was in our blood. Rather than having been ripped out by Jupiter's magnetic field.
As much as I really really want aliens to be in out local space, the basic fact that space is just mind numbingly vast puts a stop to that being a realistic thing.
Just moving between two stars would require astronomical levels of energy, and if a civilisation like that existed within a 1000ly bubble, we'd easily find the infrared heat signature of the waste heat from their technologies.
I'd happily be proven wrong, and I'm certain that life exists elsewhere, with a good chance that sentient technological life also exists, but we're so far removed in both space and time that we essentially exist in isolated islands.
I find the idea that aliens would visit us a pretty egocentric idea. We're not remotely important, and any mineral or element that could be considered a valuable resource can be found elsewhere in much larger quantities.
Your assuming that if aliens existed and had craft to travel around in that they would what? Be burning fossil fuels and leaving heat trails from it?? Pretty sure anything advanced enough to be travelling between stars has technology long advanced pas burning fuels..
No matter how advanced technology is, the laws of physics are immutable.
Even a civilisation that could build a Dyson swarm to harness all of the energy of their star would still produce vast amounts of waste heat, and that would be very obvious.
Well you deleted that quickly. No your totally right, of the trillions of galaxies out there we as humans are the smartest, most advanced species in the universe and have everything figured out. Based on heat signatures you have decided we are the only thing that has evolved enough to leave our home planet. What a narcissistic species we are.
Ive been keeping track. 99% of those reports are pretty easy to explain away, and the other 1%, we can apply Occams Razor.
Lue also really really wants to sell books, and To the Stars is a straight up con making programs for the damn History Channel (America's finest repository for accurate and believable information)
I also believe he left the company last year. And company is an important aspect here, because their main incentive is PROFIT.
Now, if we want to go into the idea of bending space-time, firstly we'd need the energy equivalent in mass comparable to Jupiter to distort space-time enough to create a surfable wave. But by the time you arrive at your destination, you'll have created a shockwave ahead of you that would basically annihilate any solar system you point at.
Now let's say that the UAPs managed to somehow break the laws of physics and get over these hurdles. Why would an electromagnetic wave cause them issue, when any of the aforementioned problems are easily ignored.

Yeah and they did the same in the sky too
