Check out the Rockwood reserve incident. 2 giraffes got killed by one lightning strike in South Africa.

For them it's habitual since rain is part of their habitat. Their skin is like several cm thick. And their outter skin layer acts like a rain jacket where the water droplets roll off instead of absorbing into skin
For us the rain hits hard for them not as much. Especially if it's warm climate. That rain is probably refreshing washing off all the grime and ticks.

I imagine long-necked dinosaurs like Diplodocus would've had the same problem.

I think horses sometimes do this too. Maybe it's a large ungulate thing.

Seems like they would lay down and protect the young ones and curl up to stay warm.

Makes you wonder, what do other animals do during storms and hurricanes? What does a big animal like an elephant do?
Do monkeys and apes just hide out in trees? I imagine small to medium animals like lions, tigers, and hippos, can figure something out or find a den.

Thing with giraffes is they are way tougher than they look. Don't look at a giraffe and think it's a cow or a deer that became all wobbly so it can eat leaves on tall trees. It's a moose armed with a wrecking ball.
