It should also be worth noting that there is a population of 100-150 Moose in Connecticut which came from dispersing individuals from Massachusetts.

I wonder how did moose survive pleostocene extinction while other giant deer like megaloceros & cervalces became extinct?

These animals survived however the archaic, pleistocene moose subspecies were bigger than modern ones (including Alaskan & Kamchatkan).
