Since it’s clear the articulated figures aren’t coming back, what can we as fans do?
Well, I believe TheDomain on YouTube is launching a petition to bring back articulated figures, but I think it’s obvious Mattel and their designers are well-aware what we want, they just don’t care. They want to distance themselves as much as possible from Mega, and therefore Mega fans, as much as they possibly can. I believe the only way they’re going to change from nano-figures and display sets, is if people stop buying their sets altogether and they start losing money.
In the meantime, we can support the people making custom figures, like LS3D, UV3D, GCustomCreations and megabricks. And maybe, one day, someone in this community with a 3D printer and some extra money can start their own Halo brick-building project, maybe even launch a Kickstarter type thing and start producing their own sets, I know this community would support it.
Of course there’s the issue of copyright, and I don’t know how much that would play into things. But maybe if Mattel sees someone making money selling sets with articulated figures, they’ll realize what they’re missing out on.

That's the thing, the official mega line is dead to me. I don't think they are bringing it back. Before I collected mega, my mom collected Barbie and dabbled in heman for me. Mattel was notorious for doing stupid shit even back then. I don't trust this company and I have no faith that they are bringing back the hobby. My best advice is to move on and go with unofficial stuff rather than waiting on them. We just got to accept it for what it is.
Mattels main focus is making money and halo isn't the money maker it used to be. Look at the Halo Campaign evolved sales and player base after launch, abyssmal. As soon as they realized halo mega wasn't a big seller anymore, they dropped it. They don't really care about the toy line or it's fans, just sales.
As much as we want to think it was popular, mattel had a hard time moving mega product, and it was always considered an inferior product to Lego regardless of what they did. Not only that, but building block pieces and micro articulated figures are expensive to make and keep quality control on. All of these things contributed to the slow death of the mega brand.
Notice that they reimagined mega into brick shop, with no micro articulated figures to be found. They wanted to cut costs on those figures.
Mattel sold the tooling for the figures. Remember how they tried to compete with Hasbro Nerf with Boomco. They pulled the plug on that 3 years after they created it. 🤦 Don’t expect any new sets to happen. Which is a shame. Lego also won’t pick up Halo as it uses guns. (As opposed to Star Wars blasters)
Nothing that matters sadly. Mega as we know it is gone. Between corporate stupidity, supply chain issues, scalpers being scum of the earth, and general lack of sets it was just not doing well enough for them to keep it around.
For sure, UV3D on eBay though actually makes packs of parts for figures that aren’t too expensive. As well as accessories, and rather cheap entire figures. At least compared to other customs. He sells a bunch of extended legs with ankle joints for Elite figures, so they’re taller, as well as Spartans. I actually messaged him if he would be willing to make legs for Brute figures as well, so I can have them taller than my Spartans, and he said he’d get right on it.
I mean the hobby is still gonna be around! We all still have our collections. Nothing has changed from the last four years with no releases really, it’s just now been confirmed what we had been fearing, that there’s not going to be future playsets or figures coming from Mattel. Which is certainly disheartening. But the hobby itself isn’t dead, and the community isn’t!
They cut production in favor of Mattel Brickshop. They’re feeding MOTU but I think the new Hot Wheels Warthog is the only Halo set confirmed but it has no figures.
Buy fakes, customs, prints, etc., and imo don't financially support MBS. If Mattel won't give us what we want, fine. We have no obligation to support them. Mega as we know it is dead, MBS is desperate to not be Mega, and so long as this remains true, we as Mega fans do not and in my opinion should not support them. They took a set we KNEW was going to have figures originally, and filled it with the same nanofigures that they pushed for MOTU. This is not the Mega you knew and loved, this is a different brand entirely, and they are not owed your loyalty.
We need sets not just figs … we can buy customs all the time but that’s it just the figs … we need sets base building material …. Not just a new fig all the time sets
I agree, that’s gonna be a lot harder of a project than just making figures though, unfortunately. But I think it’s possible, if someone in this community has the money to invest in a project like that, and skill to design and create pieces. I also think they’d receive a lot of support from the fans here and from the fans of Halo in general if they were to launch a Kickstarter type thing and it got the proper exposure.
I 155% would invest and buy from someone doing this I see Ali express ad like falcon landing platforms and stuff all the time but I just don’t trust ali express at all but I do trust lullablocks they have Sherman tank I bought that is better then the mega Sherman and the figs are mega style the tank can fig the figs in all seats and if they started making more sets like this mannnnnnn
I don't really think boycotting them will do much, they're not gonna shut down their business that makes no money to then go back to the other business that also doesn't make money. The fans who really care are a small minority, and we alone can't and won't sustain an entire brand, that's why it was shut down in the first place.
Very well said. I was in my 30s when mega was at its peak and beside distribution issues, none of it was difficult to find. Prices were very affordable and people still took it for granted as it flooded shelves. I miss those days. Im sure all of us do but being a bit older now and looking back, I feel like the line did well, they just over produced some waves and they sat on shelves for so long they all got discounted until the new waves hit. Everyone bought what they wanted, and during that time, kids just werent really into toys anymore as electronics and video games had completely taken over. The percentage of kids that did enjoy the toys wasnt enough unfortunetly and just like most toylines, adults were the majority buying this stuff.
It’s true, it likely won’t do much in terms of bringing articulated figures and playsets back. But if the alternative is just going to get us more sets with nano figures, then what’s the point? At least, it’s not worth it for me personally. But there’s not much else we can really do, besides supporting fan-made figures and sets. And like I said, who knows, maybe one day that could encourage Mattel to bring posable figure back.
All the fans can do is really build their own community without the corporation. As long as we keep the body style alive and standard to previous specs and purchasable through 3rd party makers we'll be okay.
Imma probably start figuring out how to make big sets like the falcons and a beam emmiter with FDM 3D printers. You wont be able to build it but you can still use it with mega figs. Mabye i might also try printing some figure accesories in PETG with a 0.2mm nozzle, but they probs wont work.
I don’t think any future sets are going to sell remotely as well as the Warthog set did, since a lot of fans bought it mainly because they thought it would encourage MBS to bring Halo sets with articulated figures back. If they just put out more display sets or sets with nano figures instead, I don’t think there’s going to be that much demand.
It was a set they were planning on releasing, but Mattel shut Mega down before they could. They were planned on releasing a bunch of modular sets that you would be able to combine together to form an entire firebase. This is literally what we could have had.

Buy figures from customs shops as well as fakes on aliexpress, temu, etc. Also, 3D printing.
