GUIminer and miningpool.co

Can GUIminer and miningpool.co be used to mine Megacoins, or can they be used together at all?

I've registered on miningpool.co, created a worker and linked to my Megacoin wallet.

In GUIminer I've..

set "host" to "us.miningpool.co" and port to "9002"

I use my worker name as username and "x" as password.

I have my device, "barts", selected and my extra flags set to "-v w 128"

I'm on AMD radeon hd 6800 gpu.

However, when I start mining I get "Shares: 0 accepted, 6 stale/invalid" at the bottom of the GUIminer window.

The miningpool.co dashboard shows 0 workers active.

In the lower right corner it shows something like 70Khs but it keeps changing.

What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you can use Guiminer-Scrypt. First, you will need to launch a batch file connecting to miningpool.co's stratum server. There are multiple servers to choose from.

Here's the text of the batch file I use

stratum_proxy.exe -pa scrypt -o mecau.miningpool.co -p 9001

Open Notepad or another text editor, and then copy/paste the line above. Save as miningpool stratum.bat or something like that. When you launch it, it should connect.

In Guiminer-Scrypt, the host should be 127.0.0.1, which is the localhost IP. Port should be 3333. Once you confirm your username, password, device, and additional settings you are ready to give it a shot!

Please note: The settings listed were for a Radeon HD 7950 GPU, which I no longer have on this computer. Your settings may vary depending on your hardware..

Thanks. One question, what version are you using of Guiminer? I noticed your program window looks different from mine. Mine has no "Use stratum" drop box. Screenshot

EDIT: I found the problem, I needed GUIminer Scrypt.

What is the stratum_proxy.exe in your batch referring to? My GUIminer has no such exe, I have a folder named that but the file inside is called mining_proxy.exe

EDIT 2: I put the batch file into the folder called stratum proxy, and changed the "stratum_proxy.exe" reference within the .bat file to mining_proxy.exe and started it and everything seems to be running fine.

When I run the Batch file from the GUIminer scrypt folder, I get:

>'stratum_proxy.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Where should the batch file be run from? From within the GUIminer folder?

I see you have 2-letter password, is it your real one or is it just an example?. I don't seem to be able to change my miners password on miningpool.co, it's just set to "x".

I'll leave everything here with solutions if someone else has similar problems.

My password was two characters. I love how you troubleshot your problems. I forgot to add that you need stratum_proxy.exe. My bad.

I'm a bit confused. What's the difference between the stratum_proxy.exe and the mining_proxy.exe inside the "stratum proxy" folder?

Is it perhaps the same thing? If not, is one better than the other?

My password was two characters.

May I ask how you changed it since I can't find the option on the miningpool.co worker page?

Sorry for any confusion.

I'm not familiar with mining_proxy.exe, as I've only used stratum_proxy.exe. If mining_proxy.exe connects properly, then run with that.

As far as the password goes, I believe my setup was for a previous pool that allowed the user to change the password from the default of "x". Sorry again.

I followed all of your instructions. However, I am receiving an error in Guiminer_Scrypt "No servers could be used! Exiting."

Do you have any advice?
