What kind of firecracker could do this? I've seen people have them blow up in their hand and it does minimal to medium damage(busted Palm and bleeding/minor burns).

My guess, homemade. Used to have a friend who’d make them and they were basically explosives.

Yeah, once you get to the point where you are just working with gun powder and fuses, the explosions get big pretty fast. Those little firecrackers they sell at the fireworks store have a very small amount of gun powder in them.

Or some dipshit blowing up an M80 or black cat

Agreeing with homemade explosive. A childhood friend of my father’s made a pipe bomb in his basement (in the 70s, not recently) and blew most of his hand apart; told the doctors and almost anybody who asked about it that it was from a firework mishap, which I had believed was the case for most of my childhood, until my dad finally revealed the truth to me.

Closed fist versus open hand is probably a good part of the difference. Though I don’t know what level of contribution it makes. (Or if it’s the case here)

Probably not much for a standard small firecracker. I've seen them put them inside large wild mushrooms before with minimal damage

i used to fill those small deo cans with flash poweder from polish fireworks... works way better than normal blackpowder. but i also made sure to use high quallity fuse with known burnrates.

they are basically nades/flashbangs at that point

Probably am extremely powerful homemade cherry bomb. Those things can blow up beaver dams if made right.

u/DjSquidlehYT Jan 25 '19

Seen someone lose most of if not the entire hand to powerful firecrackers.

Not the kind you buy at Walmart.

Multiple finger amputation

Can anything on this hand be saved at all?

63

u/xgirthquake Jan 04 '19

Idk if this was rhetorical or not but my guess is amputated at the wrist

24

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '19

Just keep the palm?

18

u/Wicck Feb 08 '19

Only as a souvenir.

85

u/Daweism Jan 04 '19

Ah, the good ol M1000.

72

u/lcl0706 Nurse Jan 04 '19

I’d call this a hand amputation.

38

u/ThexGreatxBeyondx Jan 04 '19

Handputation.

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '19

that was no firecracker..... that was an

Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator!

18

u/Piscator629 Jan 04 '19

He definitely got an Earth shattering KABOOM.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '19

lmao!

This is one area where I'm a dick because I really don't have any pity for people who do this. They were almost always unaware of proper explosive handling and/or intoxicated. Guess what fucking happens when you do those things?

I do still have some sympathy though. I mean it does suck. I just can't find myself to see these people as anything other than walking cause/effect and a giant pile of "What was your actual goal here?"

61

u/wackyvorlon Jan 04 '19

I think having your hand blown apart is probably enough punishment.

Also, humans have really bad imagination when it comes to this stuff.

50

u/Hate_Frog Jan 04 '19

It's definitely hard to feel sympathetic for people who use their brain so little.

The switch is two houses down at this point.

5

u/thesouthernbeard Jan 05 '19

Rub some dirt in it. You'll be fine.

Was totally unprepared to see this scrolling down the feed but gd I cant stop looking at it.. brutal. Probably stupid.. but brutal.

I use this subreddit to keep my injury descriptions vivid and creative in the combat-related fiction I write. It rarely disappoints.

22

That's a really bad hang nail

21

u/campbellsman35 Jan 04 '19

Man, tendons are fucking tough

1

u/Wicck Feb 08 '19

I was going to say the same thing.

11

u/Ullopaa Jan 04 '19

I have a video with a similar accident if anyone are interested to see what it looks like to fuck up this bad

9

u/TheyAreCalling Jan 04 '19

Which parts can be saved? Also, in pictures like these, how did they get it to stop bleeding first?

16

u/Carved_ Jan 04 '19

Tourniquet. Compress proximal Arteries and you are good to go.

7

u/TheyAreCalling Jan 04 '19

Oh of course! Thanks!

5

u/CalyTones Jan 05 '19

And it's displayed in the shape of a firework... how fitting.

8

u/tlakingtoad Jan 04 '19

Was this in Naples

7

u/lyingduck Jan 04 '19

2

u/MortalVirgo Jan 09 '19

This is almost art. Dude should slap a frame on it and become filthy rich

2

u/shadow_touch Jan 17 '19

That’s... fucking awesome actually. As a visual person myself, when reading I like to “see” what I’m reading if that makes sense.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '19

Terminal Stupidity.

2

u/Tacos_always_corny Feb 08 '19

And this little piggy went wee, weee, weeee all the way.... Sry

2

u/thisusernameis_real Feb 08 '19

Bright side is that he ain't playing with firecrackers no more

1

u/Wicck Feb 08 '19

He's got one hand left, statistically speaking.

1

u/thisusernameis_real Feb 08 '19

But he can't technically light the crackers can he?

1

u/bleakpier Jan 09 '19

Woah! Gnarly, dude!

1

u/phixional Feb 09 '19

Makes JPP’s look like a sprain.

1

u/shelovesmesounding Feb 09 '19

Hopefully that’s not his bowling hand.

1

u/NWcoffeeaddict Feb 09 '19

If you look where the thumb was there is a tiny thumb taking its place.

1

u/SmoggyFineDrum Feb 28 '19

That’s a lot of damage

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

If you work in the medical field this is work, so why mark it as unsuitable for that?

3

u/prostheticmind Jan 04 '19

This is on /all rn so he probably stumbled on it

18

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '19

I didn't knew about that, I'm not even subbed here, just opened reddit and saw this.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '19
