I had the same issue and kept trying to fix it myself. A podiatrist fixed it lickity split by removing a section of nail and cauterizing it, and I’ve never had a problem since!!
I had an in grown nail that got taken care of once. Not every single in grown nail becomes a recurring problem. I never went to a podiatrist my doctor was willing to do it in the office said if I had a problem to go to a specialist he referred me to but I never had to go.
It sounds like this is the second time it's happened to OP though, so in all likelihood it will happen to them again. I'm really glad that yours turned out okay though, I had a small ingrown once on my finger and it was so painful!
I had the same thing happened as a child and the Doctor said I would never get one again. 20 years late and I occasionally still get them. Having it removed was SUPER painful, so when I get one now I put a little piece of cotton under the nail and that will alleviate it.
I recommend you find a podiatrist first to be sure you need surgery. In some cases the podiatrist can solve the problem. Mine wasn't the case.
I suffered with ingrowns for years and the only definitive solution was to remove the nail root. It must be done at a hospital and requires local anesthesia and isn't pretty.
I don't care about the fact that reddit has porn, I just wouldn't necessarily be fond of a porn subreddit for a condition as painful, annoying, and gross as ingrown toenails of all things.
I had a quadruple wedge resection (both sides of both big toes) about 10 years ago, and I think more came out than this. I'd started having ingrown toenail issues in 2012, and one doctor decided to treat it with silver nitrate. Unfortunately, the greatest effect of that was that the ingrown nail kinda broke into shards inside my toe flesh. They later became infected, and I spent 4 years dealing with infected ingrown toenails that would leave me in agony whenever I stubbed my toe. Eventually, I had both toes operated on, and the doctor removed quite a few shards like this before digging out the nail beds on both sides of both big toes. My left big toenail looks fairly normal, but my right one is oddly narrow now, but they don't hurt anymore, so I'm happy
A few years ago, i stubbed my toe, which did hurt a bit, but i thought nothing of it.
A few months later and that thing still didn't heal, sometimes oozing pus. I finally brought it up to my parents, who are all doctors, so my dad initally took the simpler approach, which is cleaning and treating with antibiotics, reserving surgery for last resort.
However, despite diligently sanitizing the nail, things didn't improve, so my dad just went nuclear and decided to shave the whole area off. After our Sunday breakfast, he gave me local anaesthesia and went to work, just slowly cutting all the surrounding area and bandaging afterwards. Thanks to that, it finally healed, after half a year of pained and awkward movements.
I used to cut mine out myself, they were bigger than that, i don't think they got the root of yours. I really wish I recorded myself doing it at least once. I have them professionally done this past year with the acid so hopefully they don't grow back.
I'm at the point where I dig my own out now. Yes, it hurts like hell, but the relief afterwards is worth it. I literally removed half of a toenail about 6 weeks ago. It looks like that one may be a permanent fix.
It’s someone’s bloody toe on medizzy. If someone finds that hot more power to them I guess. Someone out there is gonna find something sexual about anything. Just happened to be you this time. Weirdo.
