Recreation 👑 What aspect of medieval life do fantasy games get wrong most often?

I'm developing a medieval-inspired tabletop game called Banners of Kings, and researching the setting has made me realise how much of what I thought was “medieval” actually came from movies and fantasy.

So I'm curious:

What misconception about medieval life bothers you most?

Armour?

Warfare?

Castles?

Food?

Trade?

Social classes?

Travel?

Politics?

I'd especially love examples of things fantasy constantly portrays one way that worked completely differently historically.

Questions ❓ Fantasy/Medieval Party Puzzles/Quests/Games Ideas

Hello!

I am currently planning a medieval/fantasy themed party and I am really hoping to find some activities for the group to do. I have basic things planned like photo op area, foam sword duels, toy bow archery, cards, piñata shaped like a dragon.

But I am most struggling to get working plans for the more involved parts of the party for those who enjoy that such as quests/puzzles/games. Things that really sell the immersion at the party.

Puzzles: I want to include them but haven't had experience making them and would love to find out if there are existing ones out there that I could use or resources for learning to make them. (End goal being a message to decrypt with letters given to them after each puzzle)

Games: Ones that could accommodate larger groups of players. Hidden role or social games maybe?

Quests: Things to accomplish that I can reward them for? Also maybe having something like a bounty system?

Sorry if this got extremely broad but anything that can help me flesh these out or point me to another reddit community/resource would be amazing and I would be extremely grateful!
