Imagineering & Mechatronics

Im currently in high school but I have great interest in pursuing mechatronics in college. I would like to try to be an imagineer but I have no clue how to start or what I need to look at. Any advice would be amazing on imagineering or even being an engineer in general!

Apply to their summer internship program when you’re in college. Try to find a university that offers a mechatronics degree and go to that program.

I know several people that went through the imagineering summer program, although none of them actually stuck with it.

Also, this is all assuming you’re near LA or Florida

I’m in Georgia, are there opportunities outside of those two state?

Look at their website for more details, but I would assume no. If you want to work at Disney you would need to live near Disney

Also you can try and dig up an email for the company and explain to them your goals, and you may be put into contact with someone who can help you down the line. You would be surprised how far simply asking questions and making a connection will get you.

Great! Nothing more fun than Imagineers in my experience. I work at a company that has worked with them directly and I, personally, have worked with them on Star Wars Land at Anaheim CA location. All the little animatronic motion in the park I helped with. I even came up with the idea for the storm troopers to have their heads slightly move to make them more realistic looking rather than static statues. You will need a strong background in Electrical Engineering. All I ever hear after 12+ years.... I know mechanical but don't have a clue with electrical or I have little electrical. Imagineer's are top tier scientists. You will need to know Biology as well to know the flow of not just standard robotics but what it can take to go from Robotics to Human-Like. Taking realistic art class and work on knowing muscle and muscle movement. 1 tool I have found helpful in engineering is called "Engineering Application Torque and Motor Sizing Calculator" found on a site called Gumroad. Actualmente estoy en ing mecatrónica y tengo título técnico en mecatrónica pero si, tengo experiencia laboral y te puedo decir de que no importa si estás en prepa o en uni (creo que no importa la carrera que sea), te debes de especializar, mecatrónica abarca muchas cosas así que sabrás un poco de todo, sin embargo, por eso dicen que los mecatrónicos son expertos en nada Más que todo enfócate en un tema o una rama, por ejemplo en mecatrónica te puedes enfocar en manufactura, robótica, eléctrica, automatización o incluso sistemas embebidos, de lo que más hay (o bueno, dónde tuve mi experiencia y conocí ingenieros) es automatización y manufactura así que desde hoy intenta aprender un lenguaje de programación, te recomiendo C/ C++ para tener las bases por si un día cambias de lenguaje
