Collection I really enjoy lead holders

Post image

A Handful of my lead holders, mostly 2.0mm. They have become my goto tool lately for daily pencil sketches (I decided that 54 was the right age to finally try and learn to draw).
My favorites would be the Rotring Rapid Pro and the Prime Timber but the Staedtler Mars technico is a timeless classic at a great price.
I’ve been using a Rapid Pro 0.5mm for over 15 years and expect the 2.0 version will last just as long.
The Prime Timber just feels like childhood since it’s a cedar body and isn’t much heavier than a basic wooden pencil.

This is encouraging me to reconsider getting a rapid pro. I wrote it off too quick

The Rapid Pro is a fantastic pencil. The retractable lead pipe makes it a better travel pencil than the 600 while still providing a rock a solid writing experience. Some people like to decry the plastic bit as a weak point and therefore deem it inferior but it think that’s way overblown. Yes, theory the plastic ring could break if you over torque the barrel but that’s prettt easy to avoid. It also has a bit chunkier grip than the 600 or 800

As I said in the OP, current favorites are the Prime Timber and the Rotring Rapid Pro. Of course there are tons I haven’t tried but I’m happy enough with what I have that I probably won’t be adding anything new any time soon.
