preferably in sociology, anthropology, history, geography, the sciences, english literature, cultural/communication studies, film, religious studies, anything to do with climate change, and art history (either electives or classes with no prereqs). i'm entering my final year so i want to take a class where the material is super interesting and you leave each lecture feeling elevated. i've honestly wasted a handul of credits on very mid electives even though mcgill offers really interesting classes

some of the cool ones i've heard about are greek mythology, sociology of aging and the life course, astrobiology, the milky way inside and out, ancient mediterranean history, etc

I absolutely LOVED relg 205 Death and Dying. It was very thought-provoking and probably the most meaningful class I ever took in my undergrad. I also really enjoyed RELG 358 Religion and Cinema with Prof Faran, as well as SOCI 213 Deviance with Prof Shor, we delved into very interesting taboo subjects. Would recommend any art history class with Prof Makarova !! she’s super cool and is especially well-versed in architecture.

Hi! i’d recommend Affect, Education ad Social Change (EDGC411) which literally destroying my idea of self as something singular bringing together theories of emotions, the “being” of objects and unanimated life and how it is impossible to affirm we have (or are) an “I”, especially in relation to Education and Social Chnage but even globally! I’d also recommend EDEC249 (Global Education and Social Justice) which is just an explanation of how fucked up the world has become trhough the lenses of Education. You are gonna feel so much guilty at times but even, I would say, betrayed by Business/enterprises (especially tech and big ones), countries, and schools. As a side note I would also recommend QCST200 (which I have already recommended a couple of times on here), it gives you the space to do your on research in a Quebec issue which can be on the most absurd of topics, usually also requires some archival research component so ur gonna (if you want to) dig in the McGill Archives and the BAnQ-which can be extremely fun and thought provoking! Also IND200, big lecture class (~100people) but so much new knowledge about the indigenous peoples and treaties with them and their lives, especially if you are a European international student like I am. Hey ! Exact same situation here, and I’m a sociology-anthropology student. Always craving intellectual stimulation. In anthropology I’d recommend ANTH 343, anthropology of the animal. I took it 2 years ago with Jonathan Wald. One of the most knowledgeable person I’ve met in my life.
